Debt Free 2012

Joe and I recently purchased this sticker:


We are so excited to share that we have reached our New Years Goal this month!!! We are officially debt free and own both of our vehicles, have no credit card debt, own our time share and have no other forms of debt. We are saving monthly for Christmas & all forms of car expenses, too.

This has been my dream since we've been married! We had taken Dave Ramsey's courses like three or four years ago and wanted to follow his baby steps. Unfortunately, with almost $30,000 of debt, we had a mountain to climb. This year we decided to get serious and do whatever it took.

I could say it required A LOT of hard work. I could tell you how it just required more discipline. But the truth is that God orchestrated it all and gave us both the strength as a family to endure Joe's very long work hours and to be wise about how we budgeted our money each month. We know that because of Him all this was possible and we are totally blown away by His abundance and peace that we have!

My heart is for others to know there is hope and with a good plan, you can do it too! We have adapted our own budgeting sheet that gets completed at the end of each month before the new one begins. I go to the bank weekly to make cash withdraws and divvy it up into various envelopes in my wallet. Sounds dorky, but it works!

So now Joe and I are trying to figure out how we're going to celebrate! Definitely a nice dinner somewhere... now if only I could enjoy a celebratory drink or two. ;) Our goal now is to follow baby step 3 which is to bulk up your savings. We would love to get a house one day soon.
